WRITING

WRITING

Storytelling has always been a lifelong passion of mine, from re-enacting movies with my toys to creating verbal fanfictions with my sister. Writing came naturally to me, and my English essays consistently ranked among the highest throughout my school years.

In 2018, during my Higher Certificate year, I received encouragement to publish my work publicly. One of my first published stories was The Vatour Horror Series, a collection of blog posts featuring a criminal-hunting serial killer set in the fictional city of Scotch. This story marked the first entry into my Mortiferous Arcadia universe.

In 2020, those blog posts were collected and published (and later re-published) as my first-ever novel, Vatour: Feel free... to DIE.

The book received significant praise from industry leaders, including Shawna Baca, award-winning filmmaker and founder of 4 Elements Productions, and Ambassador Dr. Tracey Fletcher, CEO of Zoba's Facilities and co-founder of Illino Media.

Four years later, I released the sequel, Vatour: Law and Order, as part of The Price of Progress collection.

By 2024, I have published 11 novels, including 9 available on Amazon and 2 ongoing web novels on Honeyfeed—all under the Mortiferous Arcadia banner.

My writing journey led me to 22Ours, a creative agency focused on content that resonates with young Africans. Much of my work involved collaborating with our client, SuperPicks, where I created weekly emails, SMSes, push notifications, and engaging articles. Here’s an example below ↓

I felt compelled to utilise (and create) the LinkedIn page for the company and came up with a concept called 22Diaries. We were a team of 6 at the team, so I thought why not have each of us pick a day, take an hour or two and write about the big events in the world of sports that jumped out to us during the week. I was also responsible for designing the cover art which would change in some way every week.

Now, before we wrap this up, there's one more piece of content that I am incredibly proud of and that's episode 2 of The Cold Ones, a web series by 22Ours featuring anthropomorphic alcoholic beverages bantering about sports. These characters are typically brands that sponsor teams, competitions and events. his episode starred two characters: Mr. Drew, a glass of Guinness named after the then-Irish rugby head coach Andy Farrell, and Oom Wikus, a bottle of Castle Lager, the Springboks' sponsor.

The episode centre around Ireland's Summer tour of South Africa and the fact that, despite being one of the top rugby nations in the world, they had never won a world cup, meanwhile South Africa was celebrating back-to-back wins. I wrote and performed the entire script with images and video editing being done by my colleagues: Zolani Stemela and Lowe Porogo!

And that's just a small sample of what I'm capable of as a writer. There's A LOT more I'd love to share and we can talk about it via email: mortiferousarcadia@gmail.com. Otherwise, please share your thought on my Irish and Afrikaans accents in the comments 😅
